Computer Hardware

INTRO

The fundamentals of how a computer runs is the hardware. People say computer hardware is super complicated but it's not. This post will be a list of computer parts and how they function in the computer.

CPU

Arguably the most important part of the computer, the CPU is most often regarded as the "brain" of the computer. This part is used for all the processes in the computer from writing Word documents to playing games. The average CPU price range is about $100-$250. Some brands of CPUs are Intel and AMD.

RAM (Random Access Memory)

RAM or Random Access Memory is like your computer's short-term memory. If something needs to be stored quickly for later use the RAM is used.

Motherboard

The Motherboard is the thing that helps other parts communicate with other parts of the computer. Say the CPU needs to tell what the RAM has to hold temporarily it uses the motherboard to accomplish that.

GPU (Graphics Processing Unit)

The GPU is what gives your computer the ability to display stuff on a screen. Surprisingly GPUs are not necessary if your CPU already has a GPU in it.

Computer Case

This one is self-explanatory, it holds all the parts together. Now a computer case is not necessary but it is recommended.

SSD (Solid State Drive)/HDD (Hard Disk Drive)

These 2 things are you computers long term memory. These are primarily used for saving your documents, holding where your operating system is, storing your game file, etc.

PSU (Power Supply Unit)

The Power supply unit is the real powerhouse of the computer. No literally like it delivers all the necessary power to the computer. It provides connectors to the Motherboard, GPU, etc. to deliver power.
